Downtown Bangor

This is Main Street in historic downtown Bangor. The area has been making a come back with new restaurants and shops opening in the last couple of years. The only other shopping area in Bangor is off the interstate highway where the mall and chain restaurants are located.

So what is your downtown area like?

Downtown Bangor looks pretty spiffy. I would enjoy walking and browsing along the street in your picture.

Downtown Anchorage is pretty touristy and there are way too many gift shops. I enjoy walking along 4th Avenue and feeling the joy from the happy smiling tourists in their matching outfits... and love the smells of the sidewalk hotdog and sausage vendors.

Downtown Bangor looks very charming—quite a departure from my (and your former) downtown, that's for sure! Are you experiencing culture shock at all?

Hi Ming!
Surely a bit different than this one!!

Blogtrotter is leaving Iceland, but before departing it shows you the incredible Blue Lagoon. Enjoy and have a fabulous weekend!

These fixed up downtown areas are so much nicer that highway malls and chain restaurants!

That's so beautiful and picturesque. And yet, I can also picture Stephen King getting the inspiration for some of his creepy small town stories there!

Dang Ming, I'm sorry I've left you high and dry. I"ll do better I promise. I"ve been a little "out of touch" this summer. Ahh yes, the French life has left me behind and now I"m back to my "Alabama life". Not quite the same.

I like seeing your new city. Keep em coming. I'll be more frequent!
