These purple and white cauliflowers were some of the selection of organically grown vegetables at the Orono Farmer's Market every Tuesday and Saturday.
So do you like cauliflower? If so, how do you like them cooked?
Those are gorgeous, aren't they? I just cut them up and steam them. Then they can take any of an array of toppings, depending what you feel like: cheese, ranch dressing, vinegar and oil, curried yogurt, or tossed with pasta.
These are beautiful! So I guess you're not missing the Union Square greenmarket then? Love cauliflower, even plain, but especially au gratin with some cheese sauce and breadcrumbs, a bit of butter, then run under the broiler. Of course, pretty much anything tastes good with melted cheese and butter!
Love them anyway I can have them, but never had the purple ones. But we're eating more broccoli because veggies with colors are more nutritious. I wonder if I can find seeds for the purple ones.
mmmmmm Cauli swimming in cheese sauce, with grated cheese and thin slices of tomato put for a few moments unter the grill to get brown and bubbly.... oh YUM! I think the purple ones turn green when cooked. I'm just checking previous posts as I've been away on vacation, posting pics of course.
Not cooked !! Imagine : The cocktail hour, your cauliflower just cut in little bunches, eaten crude with a cocktail sauce, a glass of fresh chardonnay... and don't worry, Sarreta ... your tummy will be quiet :o)
I like them in a gratin, or sautéed with some cumin seeds, or with a simple béchamel, or a little bit al dente in a curry preparation, or mashed with some wasabi, or ... I just love them. I saw cauliflowers at the farmers market too. I was a bit surprised to see them so early. For me, they do not rhyme with summer. So I guess summer is almost over. :(

I love cauliflower gratinated in the oven with some broth and cheese melted on the top.

These are really nice! Such great color. Love cauliflower with butter, salt, and pepper or with a cheese sauce.
