Penobscot River Bridge

The Penobscot River was almost completely frozen when I took this photo a couple weeks ago. There were some patches here and there where the river surface has not turned to ice yet. The area across the bridge is Brewer, which is across the river from Bangor.

Ming, does the river freeze solid enough to support people? I'm not sure I'd venture onto the ice, though ... seems pretty risky to me.

Frozen rivers are just so awesome to me!

Chuck, I don't think it freezes completely to make it safe for people to walk on it mainly because of the water current (I assume).

Too bad you can't skate on it. Still, gorgeous!
