Downtown Bangor

This is Main Street in downtown Bangor where most of the businesses are small, independent retailers and restaurants. The big box chain stores are further north on Stillwater Avenue near the mall.

So do you have a nice downtown area in your city?

I have not been in Bangor for about 25 years, but I still recognize this street. Nice photo, great town.

Very nice. I'd enjoy a stroll there. Yes, we do have a really nice downtown here, and the one main pedestrian street makes for a good stroll. On the first Saturday of each month, a major street will be closed to automobiles, a custom which had been in viguor a couple of years back, and is being revived...I hope.

It's been 22 years for me since last there. Looks almost the same. So much more calm than all of our cities with strip malls on every corner. In LA each city has it's own downtown area-then there's downtown LA and downtown Hollywood and you get it...lots of them. Missy's right with the song.....

Ming, you need to document Main Street Bangor on http://www.mappingmainstreet.org/
which is a great site for showcasing the diversity and independence of our nation one Main Street at a time. Check it out.

Love those old downtown areas...I hope they keep this up and it remains a viable area.

Nice shot!

I like how your downtown looks! Lovely and charming architecture, and none of them are glass skyscrapers.

Downtown? No such thing in MM anymore, unless it's the old downtown as defined by my father's generation. And it is no longer pretty.

ah, that looks like a old, small town in the Northeast!

Hm...Bangor is not so small, a good thing. It looks very quaint.

Yes, we have a downtown area, but it's very very commercialized!

There's even a train line called Down Town Line that is currently being built. :-)
