Postcard from Seattle

I was in Seattle, Washington a couple weeks ago. This is my favorite photo from the trip.

31 Central Street

This is the stairwell inside 31 Central Street in downtown Bangor. It is one of the few older buildings in the area that has been converted into office spaces and artist studios.

Here is another view of downtown Bangor from the corner of Main and Union Street.

So how has your week been so far?

Penobscot Theater

The scallop shell detailing on the awning is part of the Penobscot Theater that houses the Bangor theater company and opera house. Currently, Steel Magnolias is playing at the theater. I hope to go see it this weekend.

So what theater have you seen lately?

Downtown Bangor

This is Main Street in downtown Bangor where most of the businesses are small, independent retailers and restaurants. The big box chain stores are further north on Stillwater Avenue near the mall.

So do you have a nice downtown area in your city?

Steeple

This steeple belongs to one of three main churches in downtown Bangor. I am not sure which church it belongs to but the height of it makes for a beautiful skyline.

So what is the tallest building in your neighborhood?

Ferris Wheel

This ferris wheel at the Bangor State Fair is one of the many rides at the fair ground. The annual event opened yesterday and it will be here until next Sunday.

So when was the last time you went to a state fair?

Vista of Downtown Bangor

This is the vista of downtown Bangor from the top of the Thomas Hill Standpipe posted last weekend. Since I am fairly new in town, I cannot identify all the buildings yet but hopefully, I will in the near future.

So how long does it usually take for you to make new friends in a new environment?

Top of the Thomas Hill Standpipe

Here is the view of the balcony on top of the Thomas Hill Standpipe in Bangor. I was one of the first people to climb up the water tower and was rewarded with this beautiful scenery of the structure and the sky. A few minutes later, the balcony would be filled with enough visitors that this scene would be impossible to duplicate.

So have you ever been on top of a water tower?

Thomas Hill Standpipe

This is the Thomas Hill Standpipe in Bangor. The 1897 structure was build on top of Thomas Hill to store water supply for emergency purpose and to improve water pressure to the downtown area. Last Thursday, the water tower was opened to public -- this happens only 4 times a year -- and I climbed the 100-step to the top to take some photographs for this blog.

So what are your plans for the weekend?
