Penobscot River Bridge

The weather in Bangor has been unseasonably warm this winter with temperature rising above freezing point in the afternoons. This caused the normally frozen Penobscot River to melt. I have posted a photo last week of the river when it was still frozen.

Penobscot River Bridge

The Penobscot River was almost completely frozen when I took this photo a couple weeks ago. There were some patches here and there where the river surface has not turned to ice yet. The area across the bridge is Brewer, which is across the river from Bangor.

Muddy Rudder

The building with all the festive lights is Muddy Rudder, a restaurant and bar located in Brewer, across the Penobscot River from Bangor. It is a popular spot for locals to hang out and grab a beer or dine in style.

So do you have a favorite local hangout?

Purple Thistle

I saw these blooms by the river a couple weeks ago. I don't know if they are flowers or seed pods but they were definitely eye catching.

Does anyone know what they are?

Tracy *Heart* Cassie

This interesting sign professing love for Cassie is posted on a tree across the Kenduskeag Stream in Bangor. The stream runs through the city towards the Penobscot River downtown.

So have you ever professed your love to someone publicly?

Thursday Dinner Special @ the Weathervane Restaurant

The Weathervane Seafood Restaurant in Brewer, which is across the Penobscot River from Bangor, has a Thursday dinner special -- it is the 2 (1 lb) lobsters for $19.95. I was there for dinner yesterday and ordered the lobster diner. They were perfectly cooked and absolutely delicious.

So what is your favorite dinner meal?

The Bat Is Back / Good Humor

I took this photo of the ice-cream truck and its driver at the Penobscot River Revival Festival in Bangor last weekend. The festival on the Bangor Waterfront was held to celebrate the successful clean up of the Penobscot River.

So do you prefer plain t-shirts or a t-shirt that makes a statement?
