The Charles Inn on Broad Street, off of Main Street in downtown Bangor is one of the hotels in the area. Bangor is the commercial and shopping center for the northern half of Maine so tourists from as far as Canada come down here to shop.
Are there chain hotels in the area? Probably not downtown, but nearer the turnpike or outskirts? I remember lots of them along the highways. Have you scouted any of the fabtastic inns along the many harbors on the coast?
Favorite chain I guess is the Marriott...especially in NYC.
So this is the place to stay in Bangor? Good to know, just in case. I do have a fave hotel, the Pensione Accademia, in Venice (the place where Katharine Hepburn stayed in the movie "Summertime." It has the most beautiful garden, a rarity in Venice.
This Daily Photo Blog was created to share my love of photography and my experience/life/move to Bangor, and the places I've visited around Maine.
All photos are original properties of Ming the Merciless, which obviously is NOT my real name but you get the gist of it.

Seems strange looking for a hotel.
I rarely stay in a hotel.... so no favourites. But the Charles Inn nlooks old and probably is a very interesting place.
If I am staying in a chain hotel - my very favorite is a Sleep Inn...
I do have a favorite in Quebec City, Quebec - but, I'll have to search for the website...
